12 years ago, I walked into the Centre, totally computer illiterate, and armed with a desire to read any book I could get my hands on. The Centre gave me access to the thousands of books that kept me occupied my entire childhood. It was also at the Centre, that I discovered Carolyne Keene’s “The Nancy Drew Series” which filled my love for crime and law. Now, I’, a student at the Ghana School of Law, where I have picked up another leadership role, and I am 8 months away from being called to the bar.

Chess Club Revival

Chess Club Revival

In our search for a new Chess Club teacher, prompted by Mr. Hazel’s return to his hometown during Corona, we could not have wished for a better outcome!  2 of our Alumni, who themselves learned to play chess at the Centre when it was introduced by Philip Sower, offered to take up the role of teaching de children. Janet and Munira are doing a wonderful job! We will support Janet and Munira in further developing their own chess skills by offering to enrol them in (online) tournaments.

It is our goal to make sure every child's potential we encounter is stimulated. When reading does not come naturally we are patient and will work with the children to bring their reading skills up. But we will also look at how to motivate them to learn. With our vast resources, we are able to find something for everyone 😊.Whether it is chess or engaging in the mechanics of building a car.  We want all children to have the best learning experience.

I was  8 years old when I registered at To Be Worldwide. It became my home every Saturday. I was able to create bonds and increase my public speaking at a young age, due to the presentations and other fun activities at the library.  At the age 16, I was still frequent at the library. I am currently reading Geography and Rural Development at KNUST, all thanks to the library. They helped me discover my potential and improve my intellect. I am most grateful to the To Be Worldwide Library for everything."

Our  “Nose for Plastic" Program was a great success! The kids really enjoyed it. It was educational, fun, and practical. Kids learned a lot, including creating awareness in their own community e.g. taking your own container to a vendor instead of accepting your meal in a plastic disposable container. Recycling was an important topic as well inspiring them to make products recycling plastic, like a raincoat and pencil cases.
